Teen Amazing Race

March 31–April 2 Sign-up deadline is March 24.
Find clues to outwit the competition as you race around the Puget Sound! Includes food, a two-night lock-in and prizes! All free! Open to all military cardholders ages 13 to 18.

The yearly membership fee is $20 per child. The Youth Center membership allows you to participate in sports, classes and recreation.

Youth Recreational Programs

Open Recreation Program for Teens
This program is geared toward youth ages 13
to 18. Activities include community serviceproject, leadership opportunities, and life skills lessons. Keystone Club meetings help plan upcoming activities and volunteer opportunities.

Open Recreation for Pre-teens ages 9 - 12: Field trips, dances, arts and crafts, tournaments and more are part of the daily activities, including Saturdays.


Camp

When school lets out for the summer, the School Age Program offers a summer day camp. The all-day camp program includes bowling, swimming, field trips, sports activities, computer games and science and nature projects.
The school age/summer camp hours are

FitFactor

fitnessFitFactor is the Air Force Youth Fitness Incentive program open to youth between the ages of 6 and 18 years old. Youth do not have to be members.
You get points for being active in a variety of ways - from team sports to household chores, you can start earning points and achieve the five FitFactor levels. Prizes will be awarded for each level you reach.
Some of the prizes include silicone bracelets, FitFactor pins, pedometers, jump ropes, iPod shuffle, iPod, iTune cards, and other items that will help you stay on track to "Get Up, Get Out and Get Fit!" Sign up now at the McChord Youth Center. For more information, call 253- 982-2203.

Parents' Programs

Give Parents a Break, at the parents
School Age Program.

Free program offered by the Air Force Aid Society. The program offers child care to Air Force Families. Referral certificates are required to participate and can be obtained from Family Advocacy, Unit First Sergeant, Unit Commander, Chaplain, Doctor, Family Support Center, Child Development Center, or School Age Program.

The McChord Youth Center has a list of Red Cross certified babysitters. If you are interested in being a babysitter or hiring one, come to building 3032, or call 253-982-2203.

Classes

YOUTH DANCE

gymnastBeginning Jazz class's students will learn basic foot and arm movement, jumps, leaps, and turns. Students will need to wear dance sneakers or leather shoes/boots to classes well as form-fitting clothing.

Beginning Hip Hop class's students will learn basic foot and arm movement, jumps, leaps, and turns. The dance style is what you would see in music video on MTV and VH1. Students will need to wear dance sneakers, leather shoes/boots, or sneakers to class.

Basic Ballet Movementkids
is a class that will give a child the stepping stone into ballet. They will learn basic arm and foot movement, leaps, and work with the bar to improve their balance. Students, while attending class, will need to wear ballet slippers (inexpensive ones can be bought at payless shoe stores) as well as well as tights and leotards. NO BAGGY CLOTHING

Piano Instruction is open to youth 5 - 18 for $48/month per child based on 4 weeks/month. Dates and times vary.

Tae Kwon Do Karate is open for ages 3 - 18 for $45/month per child.
Classes are Mondays and Wednesdays 4 - 5 p.m. or 5 - 6 p.m.

Gymnastics is open to 6 mos. - 18 yrs. Classes offered Mondays. All skill levels provided.

Interest Clubs

Power Hour at the Youth Centerkids
Mon-Thurs, 3 - 4 p.m. This is an opportunity for kids to get their homework done with staff assistance on a regular basis.

Torch Club
Boys & Girls Club of America affiliated community service club for pre-teens, that meets at the Youth Center on Wednesdays. Four Torch Club core areas designed to help develop character, youth planning and leadership skills.

Keystone Club
Boys & Girls Club of America affiliated community service club for teens that meets at the Youth Center on Thursdays. Six core areas of Keystoning designed to help develop character, youth planning and leadership skills.

kidsYouth Employment Skills program
("YES" program) Youth volunteers wanted! Volunteer youth must be dependents of Active Duty Air Force members, and be enrolled in high school. Earn grant money toward college by volunteering your time in support of one of several base agencies. To find out more, or if your organization would like to submit a position description call
